Hyrum state park is an attraction for young and old no matter the time of year. The summer brings beautiful afternoons for picnicing in the groves of tall, shady trees that surround the Hyrum Reservoir. There are always activities to keep you entertained around the shores of the reservoir. Whether you want to take an exciting boating trip on the clear water, spend a weekend camping, or simply troll the lake catching yellow perch, rainbow trout, bluegill or largemouth bass, there is something for everyone.
The winter brings a different recreational side out of Hyrum. Minutes up Blacksmith Fork Canyon, just east of Hyrum City is Hardware Ranch. This is part of a wildlife management area, and herds of elk flock to this ranch to spend the winter months. During the winter, sleigh rides are offered that take visitors into the herds.
Hyrum Climate
Hyrum is a great place to live if you want to experience all four seasons in full swing every year. The winters are cold, generally with quite a bit of snow, but temperatures rarely get into the negative range. Summers are hot and dry, with lots of sunny days for boating or playing at the reservoir. Fall and Spring are always a surprise, but generally Hyrum has pleasant autumns with the changing leaves lighting up the mountains with colors. Springs are generally wet, with a mix of warm and sunny days to cold blizzard days.
